Welcome to the home of short fiction and essays by a creative writer and life observer.

Life has many changes that can shake us and shape us.  James Thurber, the American author, once wrote: “Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness.”  What are you aware of today?  What made you aware?

Sometimes it’s the big things–like a world pandemic or confronting personal tragedy.   I am making a conscious effort to live in the present and reject fear of the future.  Most of the time, for me, it is the little things in life–sunshine, smooth traffic, good coffee–that keep me aware.   The ordinary passage of every-day life can be fascinating. The merger of thoughtful awareness and imagination is the source of good fiction.  Each of us has stories to tellI plan to share some of mine with you.tea-2318301_1280

I am raising my mug of creamy coffee to say:  Hey there! We are living in a huge world full of every-day moments between the big ones.  A world that keeps me curious and excited enough to haul it out of bed in the morning.  Part of the purpose of my writing–both fiction and non-fiction–is to stay aware and observe.  I invite you to share your experience as I share mine.  This could be the beginning of a great friendship!
